Gym Instruction
This course is aimed those who wish to further their interest in the health and leisure industry. This course is designed for trainers by trainers and has a comprehensive mix of theory and practical modules.
The main aim of the ITEC Level 2 Diploma for Gym Instruction is to enable candidates to provide clients with an appropriate gym workout for their needs to improve overall fitness including strength, flexibility and cardio-respiratory function.
It also aims:
» To provide skills at Level 2 in the National Qualification Framework for those interested in the Health and Fitness industry
» To provide opportunities for staff in the Fitness industry to gain a Level 2 qualification
» To qualify candidates as Gym Instructors at Level 2 in the Health and Fitness industry
» To sustain the interest of candidates wanting to work in the Health and Fitness industry
» To encourage knowledge and understanding for the Health and Fitness industry at Level 2
» To provide opportunities for candidates to focus on the development of the major key skills and the wider key skills in a Health and Fitness context such as communicating with clients, working with others and problem solving
» To provide opportunities for candidates to develop a range of skills and techniques, personal qualities and attitudes essential for successful performance in employment as a Gym Instructor.
The candidate will study the theory of gym instruction and exercise as well as the anatomy of the body, in particular the muscular system. Contraindications and understanding of diseases and disorders are also a vital part of their training as well as the underpinning knowledge and skills required to successfully perform as a Gym Instructor.

Once candidates have achieved the K2NY ACADEMY Level 2 Diploma in Gym Instruction they may progress on to other K2NY ACADEMY or ITEC awards at level 2, for example:

Or awards at level 3 for example:
» Certificate in Personal Training
» Holistic Massage and thereafter Sports Massage
This award qualifies graduates to gain employment in Health Club/Fitness centres Health Farms, Spas and Liners. K2NY ACADEMY strongly recommends that candidates progress to the K2NY ACADEMY Level 3 Diploma in Personal Training after successfully achieving the K2NY ACADEMY Level 2 Diploma in Gym Instruction as this is valuable for employment within the health farm/spa and in gym and fitness centres.
Professional indemnity and public liability insurance can be obtained via EMBODY and other industry associations who recognise the ITEC Diploma.
Once completing this course you will receive a K2NY Academy qualification which is fast becoming a nationally recognised training college. We are also proud to be an accredited ITEC Centre and those students that come through our doors leave with an internationally recognised diploma in Gym Instruction.
In conjunction with this, graduates will also be fully insurable under the Complimentary Therapies Association, allowing them to work as a instructor anywhere in the world (excluding the U.S.A and Canada).
